because I have not been tending this blog for some time - in fact, I thought I had an idea baout what I wanted to esearch here, but I feel that I have not fully defined the terms. I was thinking about studying the effect that English has had on Spanish, with Spanglish being the Spanish terms being used in English. However, since I am not immersed in the Spanish language, nor in any culture in which the Spanish language is dominant, I cannot fully determine what effect that English has on Spanish. I'm sure it's to a greater or lesser degree depending on the American influence in those cultures. For example, I'm certain that Chicano Spanish is primarily ingléspañol, with Mexican Spanish showing a greater influence, and español centroaméicano having more of an English influence than South American Spanish. However, it would be fascinating for me actually to live in each of these countries for a time in order to test my theories. But as it is, I'm stuck here in Iceland, warming my toes by a fissure sticking out of the ground, spending my days jumping back and forth across a ten foot gorge, yelling "North America!" and "Europe" with each continent I land on.
So, if there's anybody out there who would like to augment my research with comments of their own, feel free!
